Pomona Gardens provide support and accommodation in Trafford. We support people to achieve their goals and to move on into their own accommodation.

I work at Pomona Gardens which is a supported housing scheme in Old Trafford that accommodates 20 people from a range of different backgrounds that have experienced homelessness. Our client group is varied but include Care leavers, people fleeing domestic violence, Refugees, People battling substance misuse issues, Addiction, Rough Sleepers, and people who are struggling with poor mental health. Our aim is to work alongside our residents to progress onto independent living and provide a safe and supportive home environment that allows people to address some of the issues that have led to them encountering homelessness. – Part of Wayne’s Application.

They have a large communal garden that would be ideal for a sensory and reflective garden space, they wanted the corner of this Garden transformed into a place where people can take time out for themselves in a place that provides a natural and positive boost to wellbeing.

The Garden Area that needed the Makeover

The Directors of the three companies sat down and decided on the winner. However, the application from Wayne at Great Places kept catching their eye and so they had to give them something. Alexis and Conor, of Bamford Doors,  went to visit the scheme and came up with the idea of a right angled bench with a couple of planters.

An engineer from Bamford’s, Rick Lowe, carefully crafted the bench in his own time and the result of what he made was beyond everyone’s expectations. A team, consisting of Lee, Rick and Conor from Bamford Doors and David Pye from Entrotec went down to set everything up and it made that section of the garden look spectacular.

The Bench with Planters

“It looks really great and well put together can you thank the team for me, It’s perfect for that corner and will make a nice quite spot for residents to sit in peace. Thank you so much.” – Wayne Smirk of Great Places.
