Sustainability

As a major national security door manufacturer, we recognise our responsibilities to procure and manufacture goods and services in a sustainable manner and in-line with our obligations to protect the environment.

We appreciate that our practices within our direct and indirect supply chain have the potential to significantly impact on local communities and the environment as a whole, it is for this reason we are taking active steps to adapt our policies and practices whilst also acknowledging that continued review and improvement is necessary.

Our aim is to move away from linear manufacturing processes that too often take, make and waste our resources into processes which result in resources that can be reduced, reused and recycled.

We encourage our employees to be sustainably minded, through product, supply and service innovation working towards net zero.

Environmental Changes:

  • Reducing our carbon footprint by employment of local people, operating regional offices, implementing weekly deliveries, thereby reducing milage covered resulting in a reduction in emissions
  • Minimising waste by transporting materials and the finished product on reusable stillages and “A” frames
  • Replacing existing fleet with newer more efficient electric/hybrid vehicles and Euro 6 engines
  • Decreasing congestion by car sharing, use of rail network/tube system, ride to work schemes, agile/remote working and meetings via MS Teams/Zoom
  • All waste returned from site is segregated and recycled by waste streams such as paper/cardboard, wood/timber and metals
  • Key chain suppliers are locally based to support both local business and promote carbon footprint
  • Where possible, waste is upcycled and reused to send items back out utilising supply chain packaging
  • Moving towards a paperless system via utilisation of digital platforms, devices and cloud-based IT/one drives printing all documentation double sided to best utilise and save on paper usage
  • Waste reduction via state-of-the-art CNC energy efficient machinery, which uses optimizing software
  • Implementation of a centralised recycling station throughout the offices, factory and depots
  • New LED, which are also on movement detectors and photocells
  • Harvesting energy by the use of solar panels. Any surplus is invested back into the National Grid
  • Thermostatic valves on radiators
  • Electrical and IT items are recycled using a local registered WEEE supplier

Key Product Values:
